Going to go out on a limb and assume that your holiday photos never made it on the cover of a J.Crew catalogue... One of the many perks of having a photographer-filled family!
Sophie Elgort's been around cameras her whole life, so of course it's no surprise she's blossomed into an industry-favorite for brands and publications looking to capture the fashionable moment.
Curious what's on this snap-happy creative's holiday wish list this season?
How do you celebrate the holidays?
My husband and I alternate years between our families. One year we do Christmas with one and Thanksgiving with the other, and then switch the next. Sometimes we all combine, which is the best.
Where will you be this season?
Vail, Colorado.
Are you a last-minute or way-in-advance shopper?
A little bit of both. I gather gifts throughout the year and keep them in the closet until the holidays. Then whoever I haven’t found something for, I buy for usually pretty last minute.
What's the best gift you've ever received?
One year my mom gave us each a champagne glass with a different animal engraved on it and a card - the card read that she was taking us all on Safari the following year. That trip was probably the best gift I've ever received.
Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?
My dad - he’s extremely picky and if he wants something he buys it for himself, so it’s nearly impossible to get him something he will like.
What's your go-to hostess gift?
A bottle of wine/champagne and I try to get a nice picture of the host(s) when I'm there that I can send to them after. If it's really good, I'll make them a print.
Favorite spots around town to pick up something in person?
Clic is a dream place to shop - they have a few locations in NYC and beyond. One of the best things about New York is wandering around different neighborhoods around the holidays - especially places with smaller boutiques like Nolita - you never know what you're going to find. I also love visiting the holiday markets in Union Square and Columbus Circle.
Any particularly festive plans or traditions you're most looking forward to this year?
My mom and I are taking my daughter Stella to The Nutcracker. I used to go every year as a kid, I'm so excited for her to see it.
What's on your list to get?
This Khaite belt if it ever comes back in stock, and these Aeyde boots.
What's on your list to give?
Artist Plate Project plates (proceeds go to Coalition for the Homeless), a FaceTime styling session with Allison Bornstein or her new book, Wear it Well. Limited edition photography prints to my clients. A subscription to my favorite travel newsletter, Yolo Journal.
