What's On Peter Davis's Holiday Wish List?

by Guest of A Guest · December 22, 2022

When it comes to man about town Peter Davis, you'd best believe the hype.

The Avenue Magazine Editor-in-Chief is the ultimate society scene staple - a fixture at every party worth going to, a friend to every name worth knowing, and, perhaps most entertainingly, one of the most impressive collectors of Supreme merch around.

So, curious what the media world favorite has on tap for the holiday season?

How do you celebrate the holidays?
This year I am celebrating Christmas with my boyfriend Ted, two of his sons who are home from college (the 3rd son is in Japan this year), our two dogs Norman and Richard and my mom at our house in Stratton, VT. We plan to ski the slopes on Christmas Day.

I usually fly to LA the day after Christmas to see my sister Minnie and her family but this year they are in Fiji on a surf trip.

    Are you a last-minute or way-in-advance shopper?
I am a bit of both. Some stuff I get way in advance, like Supreme drops from weeks ago that will be under the Christmas tree soon. Stocking stuffers like candy I will buy at 11pm on Christmas Eve at the one Duane Reade that is open.

What's the best gift you've ever given?
I gave Supreme sleds to my nephews-in-law one year. I had to lug them from Williamsburg to the Upper East Side on the subway and got lots of comments (they were too large to wrap so I tied plaid bows on them).

Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?
It used to be my mom because she has impeccable and very specific taste, but now she is more open to new things. She loved these Muji pajamas I got her one year so I keep getting them for her in different colors. She also loves the OhHo CBD Dream Cream I gave her recently so I will definitely buy her more.

    What's your go-to hostess gift?
Nothing says ‘I don’t care’ like a candle (no matter how good they smell) so I give art books. This year I am giving Alex Katz’s book from his retrospective at the Guggenheim.

Favorite spots around town to pick up something in person?
Pilgrim Surf Supply in Williamsburg is an awesome store. I love their private label stuff. And they have Pit Viper sunglasses which are great stocking presents for the ironic hipster in your life. I also always find something amazingly cool and original at Love Adorned in NoLiTa.

What's on your list to get?
I always love a piece of art. A Cindy Sherman photograph is always welcome.

What's on your list to give?
Smathers & Branson needlepoint Grateful Dead "Steal Your Face" wallets, key chains and belts - the perfect combo of prep and boho.
