Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing
With the recent premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man, you may be more tempted than usual to scale a building.  To which we say, please don't.  Unless, of course, you're properly harnessed, have gone through the "belay on" command steps with your spotter (any sleepaway camp alumni out there?) and are standing at the base of a certified climbing wall. Although NYC offers a number of climbing wall and bouldering options, there's one spot that, quite literally, stands above the rest.  The NYC Outward Bound Schools building in Long Island City boasts the city's tallest outdoor climbing wall, with five stories available to scale. Try your hand (or foot?) at the climbing wall every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30-9:30 PM.  NYC Outward Bound offers public climbing for $25 per session when registering online ($28 at the door), with discounts for package deals.  Part of the proceeds help fund free climbing for NYC public school students.
