To Be Or Not To Be Tardy

As for whether or not it's OK to arrive fashionably late, consider the type of party it is. If dinner is to be served, whether at someone's home or a venue, it's usually best to get there closer to the time on the invite - you don't want to awkwardly find your place at the table while everyone is midway through the first course, or worse, make the host and other guests wait.

If it's a cocktail soiree or late-night dancing situation, it depends on the party size. A more intimate affair should have you arrive within the first half hour while a larger event lets you get away with making a later appearance (if you must).
