When & What To Gift The Host

Never arrive to someone's home empty-handed - you probably (hopefully) don't need Emily Post to tell you that much. For holiday cocktail or dinner parties held at your host's home, come prepared with a token of appreciation. While a bottle of wine will always do, you can also opt for something more fun and personal.

However, if a soiree is held at an outside venue like a restaurant or bar, you're typically not expected to bring something (after all, you don't want to stick the host with a bunch of stuff to lug home). If you'd like to thank them for footing the bill, though, you can always send something afterwards.
