Writer At Heart
Although Dylan clearly transcends labels, there is one he's proud to stick with: writer. After falling in love with poetry, Dylan was quick to publish his first collection, titled Early Works, and since then has always lived by Hemingway’s philosophy, “if you want to get better at writing, you can read and write, but you also gotta live.”
While in training, he wrote nonstop, from his bunk bed to the field. His poetry symbolizes an introspective experience and his time spent discovering himself in the military. The work will be published in his next book, the working title of which is, I Have Been Bleeding, an ode to Hemingway’s line, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
