After the story was published, reporter Taylor Lorenz faced retaliation from the likes of alt-right group The Proud Boys as well as the Oshrys' loyal fan following. In a private Facebook group dedicated to the Oshrys and their podcast, members claimed to have been doing "deep dives" into Lorenz and sharing personal information like her family's home address and phone numbers. Lorenz and her family were allegedly harassed incessantly afterwards.
