On his own design origins:
I feel like—and I say this often—I have a competitive advantage living in New York, because it’s such an amazing melting pot of so many different cultures. You could walk down the street and someone can wear something totally by accident that inspires you. You walk down the street and see so many people that just being outside and living here, you train your eye so much. I always refer to stuff as training my eye, and what I like to do is go to all different types of areas of the world—some luxurious and some the exact opposite—it really helps train your eye, but nothing is like New York. I feel very lucky to have grown up here and live here, and it definitely allows for my eye to always be sharp.
