You come from a very creative family, did that drive you into art?
My mom is not, she doesn’t have a creative bone in her body [laughs]. My father was a clothing designer and businessman. [The store] was my grandparents. My grandfather was a sculptor and art collector, big collector of Roman coins. He loved these weird, Japanese, I think they were called noguchi or something, kind of sculptures and he said the uglier the better. And my grandmother was a musician and a painter. But her advice was don’t be a musician. I swore to her that if I didn’t make it by 25 that I would stop. Because she said it’s a hard life, and I had done a lot. I’d played Coachella. I toured the world. I played with 33hz which was an electro band. They got big, it was them or Chromeo, and it was Chromeo. Then I played with Gordon Voidwell, which is where I met Heather (Brion's fiancee).
