Quvenzhané Wallis
Wallis has a career enviable to many actors: she's starred in a critically acclaimed film, she's won a Critic's Choice Award, and she's just been nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress. Not bad for a nine-year-old! She got the role for Hushpuppy in
Beasts of the Southern Wild when she was only five (she had to lie about her age, because the cut-off was six).
Her startling intensity in the film makes you forget her youth, as she makes observations on the universe that only the very young girl can come up with.
"When it all goes quiet behind my eyes, I see everything that made me flying around in invisible pieces."
