Can you believe it's been almost a year since the collective rich kid sob heard 'round the world? As it turns out, even more details about the epic fail that was the Fyre Festival are emerging as its 20-something scam artist founder faces fraud charges in court.
While would-be revelers were forced to fight off feral dogs and eat ghastly cheese sandwiches in the Bahamas, Billy McFarland was dropping over $150,000 on a yacht for his headliners, the pop-punk band Blink-182, which at this point doesn't even consist of all its original members! Honestly, what year is it?!
Despite the major perk, the band pulled out last-minute, likely due to realizing that the whole thing was a farce. According to Page Six, McFarland, who is due in federal court today, also spent "$18,208 on towels, and another $260,000 on carpet" for the VIP tents, which turned out to be disaster relief shelters. Obviously, none of these luxurious purchases appeared to materialize. And we wonder why millennials get a bad rep about spending.
