Black At Brearley
Indeed, the school's embrace of anti-racist policies and curriculum - and the backlash to it - comes after Black students and former students of the school spoke out about their experiences there.
Last summer, an Instagram account called @Blackatbrearley was created "for all Black folks, past and present, who The Brearley School never let belong."
In over 100 posts, the account shared firsthand stories of the microagressions, emotional abuse, and all-around "othering" faced by Black students at the institution, who currently make up just 6.4% of the student body.
