Chelsea Hotel

Location: Chelsea Hotel, 222 W 23rd St.

History: The Chelsea Hotel is rumored to be one of the most haunted places in New York City. The hotel was constructed between the years of 1883 and 1884 and its Victorian Gothic style made it distinctive and incredibly popular. One of the most important parts of its history is that many notable people resided there at some time including: Mark Twain, Arthur Miller, Dylan Thomas, Madonna, Janis Joplin, Jimi Henrix and more.

Haunted Happenings: This place is pretty much the "Hollywood" of the supernatural world. Celebrities that have passed away at the Hotel Chelsea include writer and poet Dylan Thomas and Nancy Spungen. Dylan passed away in room 206 from unexplained (but probably the excessive boozing) causes and Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of the Sex Pistols' bassist Sid Vicious, was found stabbed to death on October 12, 1978. Many people have claimed to see the ghostly figures of these two celebrities throughout the hotel.

Other supernatural claims associated with the hotel include cold and hot spots, gushes of wind, items being moved, the sound of loud footsteps and drawers and windows opening and shutting by themselves. Would you dare to stay the night?
