Morris-Jumel Mansion
This shagadelic spot belonged to Colonel Roger Morris and his wife, Mary Philipse. Nicknamed “Mount Morris,” the mansion was erected in 1765 and spans 130 acres on one of the highest points in Manhattan. Unfortunately, Morris and his beloved were loyal to the British; so George Washington was just like, “I’ll take this.” G-Dub made Mount Morris into a strategic war room, as the estate offered a prime view for the Battle of Harlem Heights, and secured an American victory.
