Hamilton Grange
No, it’s not an old ZZ Top record you found in your dad’s closet, but rather a place. Commissioned by Alexander Hamilton in 1802, architect John McComb Jr. designed this federal-style country home. The house, named “The Grange” to commemorate the name of his father’s ancestral estate in Scotland, only housed Hamilton for 2 years. Hamilton was mortally wounded in 1804 during a duel with then Vice President Aaron Burr, Hamilton’s personal and political adversary. Seems like a rational way to settle an argument.
