Romantic Picnic

There are many places to spend a summer afternoon enjoying a picnic with your date in New York. Picnics are great if you are just getting to know someone, as well as if you are in a serious relationship. Be sure to bring a blanket or sheet and a bag to carry your goodies. Feeling creative? Meet at a grocery store and spend the morning preparing your meal. Otherwise, pick up food at a local deli, gourmet food shop, or take out food location. Some suggestions for the best picnic spots are located in Central Park, Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Central Park: If you want to impress him or her, meet at Yura on Madison to pick up the essentials for your picnic. They offer some of the best sandwiches in the city, as well as small containers of different salads and lunch options of your choice. Be sure to pick up wine or beer as well. Enter the park on East 86th Street and follow the path to the Great Lawn to find a spot on the wide open space. Another great spot is located mid-park at 79th street overlooking the Belvedere castle . Yura on Madison, 1292 Madison Avenue (at 92nd street) Prospect Park: If you are feeling particularly adventurous or you're a Brooklyn local, head over to Prospect Park for a romantic picnic with your date. Long Meadow is a great mile stretch of inviting grass area perfect for enjoying hours of each other's company. Brooklyn Botanic Garden: Another great spot is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden which features over 52-acres of gardens. One particularly romantic location for a picnic is the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, which will transport you to another world with its unique Japanese landscape.
