The Scam
Per the complaint from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, "the defendants collectively diverted more than 2,700 nights’ worth of hotel rooms through this scheme." By charging their customers through Cash App, they made around $400,000 - and stuck the city with the bill for each fraudulent stay.
