Secret raves and impromptu public dance parties aren't quite a recent development here in the city. When quarantine frustration met passionate political activism last summer, young people appeared to find community and release at post-protest gatherings. However, the events earned criticism for their defiance of COVID safety and even prompted NYU to take disciplinary action against students who had apparently been in attendance.
