We receive emails and comments all the time from readers who turn to our (not inconsiderable) knowledge of NYC for advice, so we've decided to take time out of our busy day of Internet surfing to answer questions. Today: Where should Noah celebrate his 30th?-
Noah asks, via Facebook:
I need your advice. I'm turning 30 in a month and Sat the 18th of December I'm doing a dinner with 15 of my closest friends in TriBeCa. But after dinner, I want to do a larger party but can't think of a great place for drinks, dancing and shenanigans. The only hitch is I want some place where all of my friends can get in and won't have to hassle with doormen.
Happy Birthday Noah! Ward III is a great option and has everything you are looking for (assuming your shenanigans are of the standard sort and don't involve illegal activity or anything too outrageous). Located in Tribeca it should be a short walk away from where you and your 15 nearest and dearest will be dining. Set up like a vintage speakeasy, it's nicer than a dive bar or pub and low key enough to avoid having to deal with bouncers, attitudes and a velvet rope. The drink list is one of the best in the city with incredibly well crafted cocktails using strawberries, bitters, nutmeg and other fresh ingredients. The mostly bearded bartenders are incredibly helpful in guiding you to the perfect choice without a hint of pretension. Bespoke creations run around $12 so you won't break the bank. The DJ tends to play a mix of music depending on the night, so you could hear anything from '80's rock classics, current indie buzz bands, bluegrass or James Brown. All are very danceable.
Have a great time!
