Myrtles Plantation

Considered one of the country's most haunted homes, this Louisiana plantation apparently hosts at least 12 ghosts, as well as a few skin-crawling legends and paranormal experiences. While the only documented murder to occur in the home involved the shooting of a man named William Winter, some claim that there have been 10 murders in total, and that the land was once an Indian burial ground. Another story says that a slave (who had her ear cut off by the owners) poisoned the wife and her two daughters with a cake, and that their spirits remain trapped in one of the home's mirrors. Overnight guests have heard the footsteps of William Winter struggling up the stairs, seen hand-prints on the mirror, and have woken up to find they've been mysteriously tucked in. Shiver.
