Grand Or Gaudy? Inside Gianni Versace's Former Upper East Side Mansion

Loud luxury. Those are the words that come to mind when touring 5 East 64th Street, a seven-bedroom, ten-bathroom limestone mansion nestled between Fifth and Madison.

If the giant gold Medusa emblem on the front door isn't enough to give it away, this over-the-top pad was once home to Gianna Versace. And while it's been years since the designer was in residence, his, let us say, penchant for "opulence" has certainly been preserved, with his Italian Baroque details still present throughout. Red marble floors and matching ionic columns, Greek key inlay at every turn, fresco-style ceilings bursting with cherubs...

In 1995 the home was purchased for $7.5 million. In 2005 it traded hands for $30 million. In May of 2022 it was listed for $70 million, and here we are, more than a year later, still on the market, with a price decrease down to $60 million.

    Basically a steal, no?

You'll just obviously have to get rid of that cheetah carpet...
