Roman Abramovich
The billionaire investor and Chelsea soccer team owner has been hit with sanctions in both the UK and Canada this week. Here in New York, Abramovich once made headlines for his plans to build an over-the-top megamansion on the Upper East Side by combining a block of historic townhouses on East 75th Street. Plans were approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission for Manhattan's largest home, with six stories, 12 bathrooms, an indoor/outdoor pool, a sculpture garden, and an art gallery. In 2018, Abramovich transferred the deeds, totaling six properties worth $92.3 million, to his ex-wife, socialite Dasha Zhukova.
