Contrary to what you may be thinking, the photo above is not, in fact, a hippie-dippie Ralph Lauren ad from the 1970s. Rather, it depicts the stylish, real-life Novogratz family gearing up for a typical weekend at their colorful country estate in the Berkshires.

Husband and wife design duo Robert and Cortney Novogratz are certified renovation legends, pursuing their passion for beautifying spaces by tackling high-profile properties from New York to Los Angeles (and beyond). They've chronicled their projects in a number of books, have starred in a couple of reality TV shows, and have even branched out to develop their own home décor product lines, from furniture to wallpaper to their latest window treatments in collaboration with The Shade Store.

And while they've worked with countless clients and commercial properties over the years, the Novogratz's crown jewels are no doubt the spaces they've created for their own family of nine. Not least of all is their beloved Berkshires escape.

"We found this house after 9/11 and were looking for a safe haven for our family. We were in downtown Manhattan with four children at the time and were looking for a place that wasn’t too far from the city," they explain. "Built in 1917, the house was very run-down when we discovered it. It needed a lot of love."

And love it has received!

After a number of renovations and luxe new additions (including a sauna), the dreamy bohemian home has become the embodiment of the Novogratz family: cool, creative, funky, and fun.

"There are several antique pieces throughout the home we adore. We love antiquing! For instance, the open dining room features a vintage chandelier and table from France, and the mirror above is a vintage find as well. To make the room our own, we anchored the vintage pieces with artwork by Graham Gillmore."

"We always incorporate art into every project, especially when it is our home, including our kid’s bedrooms. They understand that we should appreciate and respect art. Pieces in the house include Adelaide Cioni, Ann Carrington, Jan Eleni, Graham Gillmore and one of our favorites, a photo of River Phoenix by Diego Uchitel."

The home's most recent refresh includes window upgrades from their new collection with The Shade Store. "We’ve been collaborating with The Shade Store for nearly 20 years and this our third major collection with them and by far our favorite. It’s based on a home we’re designing in the West Village (the iconic Pink House) and it’s Old New York meets Parisian Flair, or Wes Anderson meets Gucci. It’s bold and bright, but we always include a neutral option in each pattern."
