All praise the roast chicken gods! Everyone's favorite West Village restaurant, Barbuto, is making a triumphant return - to the West Village, in fact - on February 25th.
Jonathan Waxman's farm-to-table-ish Italian spot shuttered last May after holding down the fort in a glass-paneled garage space for 15 years. The building where Barbuto resided was sold in 2018, and the new owners pushed the place out. C'est la vie. But Waxman did assure hungry mourners that he'd be back, and now he's making good on his promise.
The New York Times reports that the reincarnated Barbuto will be located just "300 steps away" away from the former Washington Street space, on Horatio. As for the food? Much of the old staples will be returning on the new menu, including, of course, the famous roast chicken with salsa verde.
"I couldn’t be happier," Waxman told The Times. And duh, neither could we!
