Considering how hard it is to snag a reservation at Carbone, the trendy Italian eatery is already the dining equivalent of a members-only club. If you're hoping to get a prime time table down on Thompson Street, your last name better be Jenner, Hadid, or Bezos. Or have some of the same high connections.
But by the end of the year, a plate of that famous spicy rigatoni vodka is set to become even more exclusive when the team at Major Food Group unveils a literal members-only location of the red sauce hot spot.
As announced in the New York Times, Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick and Rich Torrisi are bringing the group's high-end ZZ's Club, a private Miami restaurant and members' club, to New York sometime in 2022.
Set to take over the former Tavern space at Hudson Yards, the upcoming outpost will stretch three floors and about 25,000 square feet, and will feature a Japanese restaurant (like the Miami location), along with lounges, bars, event spaces, and, yes, an even harder to get into version of Carbone.
According to Eater, membership to ZZ's Club in New York will be invite-only, which like, is pretty much the same deal at the OG Carbone, so at least now they're just being upfront about it!
