One of New York's most beloved spots - I mean, don't we all love that meme of Carrie and Big falling into the lake? - is calling it quits.
A notice filed with the New York State Department of Labor by the Loeb Boathouse states that, "due to rising labor and costs of goods, the business will be permanently closing effective 10/16/2022 affecting a total of 163 employees."
Of course, COVID didn't make it an easy time to be in the restaurant and events business, with the Central Park spot forced to close its doors from October 2020 to March 2021. Especially bad timing considering that in April 2018 the property underwent a $2.9 million renovation...
Word on the street is that the NYC Parks Department is currently on the hunt for a new business to take over the waterfront space.
Which NYC restauranteur do you think should take on the job?
