East Williamsburg: Roberta's
Roberta's backyard tiki bar is like a garden oasis in the industrial area of the East Williamsburg/Bushwick neighborhoods, and the food is like something out of a dream. Housed in a former garage, Chris Parachini and Brandon Hoy's modest neighborhood spot has become a cult favorite among local hipsters and Manhattanites alike, all who make the pilgrimage to this once forlorn part of Brooklyn, filled with the resolve and determination to endure the hour-long waits it takes to secure a seat at one of the long communal tables. While the pizzas here are the wondrous creations that made this place, the restaurant also offers up a full menu of artful culinary delights, from salads made with vegetables grown in their own backyard to heartier dishes such as lamb with mint, scallions and yogurt.
