Inside "Scuderia", Leyla Marchetto's New Digs On 10 Downing Street

by KATE WINICK · January 30, 2009

We stopped by the much-publicized and hotly-anticipated new restaurant Scuderia to catch up with the New York restaurant world's latest glamour girl, Leyla Marchetto and see her new digs at 10 Downing Street just a few weeks before the scheduled opening date.

The finishing accents all have that personal touch--the four owners and investors are bringing in art and decor from their own collection and programming the music into the state-of-the-art sound system, as well as providing blackboard paint and chalk in the bathrooms for you to vandalize with your terrible Italian or (no doubt) brilliant English witticisms.

    More story and photos below:

The combination of communal tables and regular seating, as well as an area available for private dining behind the bar, are pleasingly mixed-up and warm, and of course Scuderia continues in the great Marchetto tradition of outdoor seating during the summer--you'll be able to wave at proud papa Silvano across Sixth Avenue from one of 36 outdoor seats.
