It makes sense that the New York art world would be abuzz about the opening of Fotografiska in Manhattan, the new outpost of the famed Stockholm photography museum which has taken over a landmarked Renaissance Revival-style building on Park Avenue South. As it turns out, the foodie scene is excited about it, too.

In addition to expansive exhibition and event space, the 45,000-square-foot mecca also boasts one of the chicest new eateries in town, with none other than Stephen Starr at the helm. Inspired by the "grand cafes" of Europe before the turn of the 20th century, Verōnika at Fotografiska isn't your typical museum watering hole. In fact, we'd say it's a destination in itself. Luxe, dramatic interiors come courtesy of Roman and Williams (because what good is a restaurant inside a photography museum if it's not photogenic?), while the menu is curated by Executive Chef Robert Aikens, featuring indulgent fare which pays homage to old world Eastern Europe. Think: Soufflé Suissesse with sauce mornay, Veal Schnitzel, Potato Pierogies with sour cream and caviar, and Lamb Goulash with buttermilk spätzle. Yum!

As for the name? A nod to Veronica, the patron saint of photography, of course.

Complete with original 20-foot ceilings, cornices and archways, along with opulent brass chandeliers and a Black St. Laurent marble bar, Verōnika is reason enough to indulge in some culture - both edible and visual.
