Is This The Most Luxurious Yurt Dining Experience Downtown?

by Stephanie Maida · January 10, 2022

For a bunch of steadfast urbanites, New Yorkers really can't seem to get enough of yurts come wintertime. Who knows, maybe it's some evolutionary desire to snuggle up inside a makeshift shelter that's built into our DNA.

Whatever the reasoning is behind it, restaurants across the city have increasingly answered our call during the colder months. But while there are quite a few tent-like dining experiences popping up this season, there's no more luxurious spot to scarf down a burger in a yurt than Fairfax.

Gabriel Stulman's eclectically cozy all-day eatery has been a tried and true West Village staple for years, and, considering its penchant for taxidermy décor, it's no surprise that the hot spot has put a rustic-chic spin on its outdoor dining setup.

Insulated by hanging patterned rugs and decked out in garlands and gilded picture frames depicting wintry scenes, Fairfax's three private yurts offer the perfect escape from brunch 'til dinner. Warm up with a bottle from their acclaimed wine list, throw in an espresso martini, and really heat things up with the can't-miss smoked cheddar burger, which lives on from Stulman's gone-but-not-forgotten Bar Sardine.

Al fresco alpine perfection without any roughing-it requirements (um, hello white tablecloths!). Reserve your own HERE!
