Only in New York, as they say, could you find a mini French restaurant chain that's as chic as Boucherie. Adding to its small empire in the city, which includes a Union Square outpost and two locations in the West Village, the team behind the local favorites just debuted its largest new spot in Midtown - one of the biggest openings in town since the pandemic struck.

La Grande Boucherie is certainly named accordingly. Spanning nearly half a block, the expansive new space can accommodate nearly 600 people at full capacity, and is currently making use of its "outdoor" covered passageway, which boasts heated floors and a plaza-like atmosphere for around 170 guests, even with COVID restrictions in place. Inside, you'll find lavish interiors embodying Belle Époque Paris, complete with plush banquettes, ornamental Art Nouveau, and (look up!) a 150-year-old glass ceiling imported from France hovering over the bar. "Grand" may actually be an understatement.

And while the stunning interiors are definitely a draw, the kitchen, too, is worth talking about. Chef Bill Brasile, formerly of Minetta Tavern, is at the helm, serving up fine cuts of steak and other brasserie staples. The eatery also includes an in-house charcuterie program (with its own little corner of hanging cured meats) and an icy raw bar.

For cautious diners who want plenty of room for social distancing when venturing out for a bite, this is for sure the fanciest place to start. Click through for a peek inside!
