Prune - The Renaissance Restaurant
Normally, when we see a menu that's all over the place, we can't help but be suspicious. After all, no restaurant can be that good at that many things - which is what makes you a social outcast of a freak if you stray from the classics at a diner, going instead straight for the salad section or, God help you, the fish entree. But with Prune, it is not so. From a ridiculously delicious deep fried Monte Cristo, to Sausages and Oysters, just go with it, to a Dutch Style Pancake with blueberries, bacon, sour cream and powdered sugar, everything on the menu is absolutely brilliant. And it's not like you can argue the validity of a restaurant that serves ice cream for breakfast. Granted that vanilla creamy goodness comes packed with a heaping scoop of grapenuts, but, we suppose there are societal concessions to make for such boundary pushing decadences.
