Uncle Boon's
Thai food has become as prominent a staple in New York cuisine, but
Uncle Boon's is not your everyday Thai stop. If your neighborhood is Nolita, you're in luck—restaurant couple Matt Danzer and Ann Redding of
Per Se have just opened a home-style authentic dinner spot. Redding grew up in Thailand in a family of vegetable-stand and food-cart workers, so you know this is the real deal (the restaurant is named after her Uncle Boon). The menu features Thai "drinking food" which means plenty of large plates that include curried hanger steak, grilled blowfish tail and tamarind shandies.
