Still scrolling past enviable snaps from your friends' Italian vacations, wondering how TF everyone you know can suddenly afford those outrageous plane tickets? Yeah, we feel your pain. But here's some good news: For the next few weeks, you don't have to book a flight to indulge in your own authentic, aperitivo-fueled summer escape.
For a limited time, one of the best bars in Italy (and the world, for that matter) has landed right here in NYC. And we have our favorite gourmet Italian emporium to thank.
Eataly (of course!) has teamed up with Camparino in Galleria, the iconic cocktail bar originally opened by Davide Campari - yes, of that Campari family - in Milan way back in 1915.
For over a century the spot has been hailed as the hub of the Milanese Aperitivo, and has remained a touchstone of Italian cocktail culture. The celebrated destination has no trouble attracting visitors from across the globe, but now, Camparino in Galleria is bringing the drinks to us!
As part of Eataly's first-ever Cocktail Fest, Camparino's internationally recognized head bartender Tommaso Cecca has lent his signature sips to Bar Milano, Serra, and other selected restaurants at Eataly Flatiron, as well as Firenze Ristorante e Bar at Eataly Downtown. His inventive creations include the elegant Campari Shakerato (simple and shaken), the L’Aperitivo (Campari, Aperol, Luxardo Maraschino, Doc Herson's Green Absinthe, Fino Sherry, Laurel Essence), and the Compadre, a twist on the classic Negroni made with Campari, mezcal, and vermouth.
The specialty cocktails are certainly worth raising a glass to. And you should do it quick - they're only available through August 21st. After that, you'll actually have to fly to Milan to find them!
