Waverly Inn
The Waverly Inn is perfect if you're into the members-only-club type of atmosphere and Graydon Carter has yet to write something snippy about you (the Vanity Fair editor-in-chief is a co-owner). The restaurant is all shiny red booths, moody amber lighting, and thought-provoking wall murals. Though it wins more points as a place to be seen than a place to eat, the menu is still a comforting collection of upscale American offerings: chicken potpie, a classic burger, and a nice $75 truffled mac and cheese.
