If your favorite pregame song just came on, your bff is flirting with tall, dark and handsome over in the corner and you're still too sober for the club, then we'd say it's probably not the best time to call an Uber. A pregame can be a beautiful thing but no one will remember how epic it was if it ends mid-song to "THE UBER IS DOWNSTAIRS!" Most Ubers (especially if you're in NYC) will arrive within 2-4 minutes of pressing the 'request' button so don't get all philosophical and tell yourself time just doesn't exist, because it does and if you keep your driver waiting you're guaranteed a low rating at best, but more likely than not you'll be left stranded and with a cancelled ride.
