Drinks First isn't your typical dating podcast - what inspired the concept?
When I moved back to NYC in 2019, I had a lot of friends (all sexualities and genders) who had either moved here/ been here from when I grew up and I felt like I was having the same conversation with all of them: "Dating in NYC is so hard," "I hate dating apps," "Why am I getting ghosted?" etc. etc. and I thought to myself, all of these people are great (ambitious, smart, funny, attractive), why is it so hard to date in NYC?
I thought the idea of being able to connect with someone by hearing more about their story, and taking the visual aspect out of it would be a great way to eliminate some of the inherent biases we have when we date. Thus, Drinks First was born. I interview anonymous singles based in NYC of all ages, sexualities, races, etc. and my listeners can match with them. I really do think if after listening to 40 minutes of someone talking about themselves without knowing what they look like, and you're interested to learn more, why not go on a date?
