Lime crime

This happened about 25 years ago before internet dating during the "lavalife " phone dating thing.

She was in her 40s well dressed sitting nervously in her seat obviously anxious about her date - it was probably her first date in years as she was most likely freshly divorced or separated. She was pleasant and polite and every time the door opened she looked up to see who had just walked in, hoping that her knight in shining armour had just arrived.

He arrived wearing a lime green suit with white socks and runners. His pants were tailored too short and his hair was greasy and uncombed. He greeted her went in for a kiss, was denied and then sat down and ordered a water. She gave me a look of "help me" as I delivered his water. I stayed in earshot and hadn't a clue what to do as I knew it wasn't going to work out.

She excused herself to go to the ladies room. I approached her and said "If you want to leave, I can take you out the kitchen." She silently nodded while her eyes were starting to water up "wines on me - this way." I watched her drive away then went back to the table where he sat waiting for her to come back he silently sat and finished his water then left without tipping or saying anything.

This happened in Winnipeg at an Earl's restaurant.
