Just a five-hour flight from New York City awaits the Jewel of the Caribbean, Cartagena.
For decades the Colombian city has been a hot spot watering hole of high society favorites - Lauren Santo Domingo spends her holidays here, so you know it's impossibly chic...
Dripping with rich history, the colonial walled city, which even features a fortress, also boasts some of the most luxurious destinations, most notably the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara. Originally built in 1621, throughout its long life the storied space has been a prison, a convent, and a charity hospital before opening as Cartagena's grand dame hotel in 1995.
For years the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara has served as the most sophisticated spot for a metropolitan stay. And for when you find yourself needing a city escape, there's their newly opened sister property on the neighboring island of Barú, Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort.
Ask any local and they'll say that a visit to Cartagena is incomplete without popping over to Barú. Now, you can easily take the a 40 minute long yacht ride to the resort and spend the night!
Through October 31st, you can mix and match your trip with two city and sea specials. There's Caribbean Flavors of Colombia: Cartagena & Barú (two nights in the old city; two nights in the islands) for $2,480.00, and The Alchemy of Colombia: Cartagena & Barú (two nights in the old city; two nights in the islands) for $ 2,200.00!
