Candlewood Lake
Two hours north of Manhattan, in a tiny village called Connecticut, is a beautiful lake that stretches for ten miles, filled by tiny islands and draped by beautiful sunsets. Just north of Danbury is Candlewood Lake, surrounded by hundreds of waterfront lake houses and cabins set in and around the Pootatuck State Forest. Rent a lake house for roughly $200 a night and jet ski down the entire lake. Too cold? There's nothing more exciting than gathering your friends in a deserted lake house for a night of games, booze, and who-gets-to-jump-in-the-lake-first.
