Turning Torso, Malmo, Sweden
The tallest skyscraper in Sweden, the Turning Torso, is one of most uniquely designed buildings in the world. The idea for the building came from a white marble sculpture of a twisting human being called the Twisting Torso. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava was intrigued by the structure of twisting cubes, and designed a residential tower using the same principal. The landmark was completed in August of 2005, and at 623 ft tall, it is still the tallest building in Scandinavia.
