Tasting Fugu: Tokyo Japan
Fugu is the Japanese word for a sushi dish prepared from puffer fish. How can eating sushi be on a bucket list? The answer lies in the extreme danger of preparing this delicacy. Puffer fish contains tetrodotoxin, an extremely lethal poison. If Fugu is not prepared correctly, it can, legitimately, kill you. However, the Japanese Government strictly regulates the preparation of Fugu and only highly trained chefs can make the dish. The real dare devils should try to find some black market fugu liver, which is considered to be the most delicious part of the fish. But as with most good things in life, it is also the most dangerous part of the fish with the most toxins. Fugu liver is banned in Japan but if you're going to eat Fugu might as well eat the best part.
