Water Buffalo Racing: Sumbawa, Indonesia
For centuries, Indonesians have been using water buffalos to help them complete the arduous task of mixing the mud with other soil before they plant rice. What started off as a private game among farmers has turned into an international, wild competition.
Each year, thousands of people flock to the gorgeous island of Sumbawa to compete in this wild race where two buffalos, attached by a harness with a wooden sledge carrying the jockey, run through the mud to the brightly colored flag at the finish line.
