Holi, India
Name and Location: Holi, various celebrations throughout India
Date: March 8, 2012
Details: Holi, The Festival of Colors, is the Hindu welcoming of springtime, and a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. Celebrated in March in countries with large Hindu populations, the biggest and most widespread Holi Festival is a country-wide party in India. During Holi, people stock up on colored paints, powders, and water, and splash the colors onto each other. There are also bonfires held to commemorate the story of the Hindu figure Prahlada, but judging from photos, Holi looks way more Spring Break than Religious Ceremony!
