David Levinthal: War Games and Free Summer Saturdays at the Corcoran
Free Summer Saturdays return to the Corcoran this Saturday, May 18, one week earlier than usual to celebrate Museum Day. The contemporary museum typically charges admission, but will open their doors to non-members for free every Saturday this summer...and will welcome visitors with fresh chalk drawings on 17th Street (outside the museum) by Julia Benton and Whitney Waller beginning May 25.
One of their newest exhibitions you will want to see are the war-themed photographs by David Levinthal, who has staged his subjects with miniature toys and dioramas.
From the Corcoran:
"Levinthal’s combat-related tableaux constitute a remarkable critique of the ways society experiences conflict through its portrayal."
