Georges Braque at the Phillips Collection
Cubist paintings from Georges Braque will be on display at the Phillips Collection starting this Saturday.
From the
Phillips Collection:
Forty-four sumptuous canvases, along with related objects, trace the artist’s journey from painting still lifes in intimate interiors in the late 1920s, to vibrant, large-scale spaces in the 1930s, to more personal interpretations of daily life in the 1940s. The works, drawn from collections in America and Europe, are framed within the political and historic context of the time.
The museum will also host their Phillips After 5 party on June 6th, which will have a 1930's theme thanks to the Braque exhibition (jazz, swing dancers, board games). $12 charge.
