H. Bloom And Room And Board Host A Girly Flower Party For DC Women In Media

by Sophie Pyle · November 17, 2011

Room and Board, a classic-contemporary furniture store at 18th and T NW, hosted about two dozen women in media for a flower party sponsored by H. Bloom featuring cocktails garnished with St. Germain last night.

    H. Bloom got a lot of attention last month when 100 DC Social Media personalities--from socialites, to media, to people that are just popular on Facebook--received a sampling of their subscription flower service.

The event last night was a promotion for H. Bloom's "Arrange Your Own Bouquet" program--something the social media stars didn't get to see. Subscribers of this program, which starts at $29/delivery, will receive a bundle of exquisite loose stems delivered to their door. Apparently, one bouquet can make as many as three arrangements!

If you ever throw your own flower arranging party, make sure you include cocktails with St. Germain. I thought it was a brilliant touch. St. Germain liqueur is made out of elderflowers. A dash of it was added to our champagne glasses.

Having your flower party in November is also a good idea--we're not taking flowers for granted this time of year.

As BrandLinkDC director Barbara Martin said, "We're playing with flowers, and drinking flowers!"

So, what did we make? One Thanksgiving arrangement, complete with dark berries that looked good enough to eat. We also made a wintry white arrangement that got extra sparkle with glittery pinecones and holiday ornaments.

[Me with my arrangements, yes that's a stick in my hair...]

WHO WAS THERE: bloggers from Glittarazzi, Amanda McClements from Metrocurean, Kate Bennett of Capitol File, Elizabeth Fassbender of SoMuchToSmileAbout.com, Washington Post's Dominique Vu and more.

Victory: Although there were clippers and thorns all over the place, there were no injuries at the party.
