Enrico David, “Head Gas”
Turner Prize-nominated and internationally renowned artist Enrico David celebrated his New York debut at the New Museum this week, showcasing a body of work that includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, and collages. Folk art, advertising, fashion, and history all converge in his art, which portrays “haunting, incomplete, and sometimes grotesque characters fighting against and merging into backgrounds comprising a personal lexicon of forms.” Hand-painted paravents, or folding screens, are also on display, serving also to influence the architecture of the gallery and provide artistic bridges between pieces. Through April 22 at New Museum, 231 Bowery. For more information, go HERE. [Photo via]
