Helice Wen
Tell us a little about your creative influences (artists and otherwise.)
One thing that I think is amazing about doing art related work is I change my interest a lot through time. What interests me is what influences me in creativity. For the past year I have been looking at many ancient Chinese/Japanese patterns and prints. Other than that I love to look at black and white figures and fashion photography.
Might you be able to share with us a work of yours that has a personal story associated with it?
The last body of work I did for my solo show, “Public Intimacy”, is partly about how a woman should own her beauty/sexuality/intimacy without [being] judged by anyone. I wished I understood it when I was younger.
You can do a portrait sitting with anyone on the planet. Whom do you immortalize?
Self-portrait.
