South Edison Wows Montauk Diners

A few of us from Team GofG tried out the new Montauk restaurant South Edison last weekend and we enthusiastically give this one five stars, two thumbs up, a ten out of ten...well, you get the point, this place is good.

To elaborate, basically everything about Chef Todd Mitgang's new Montauk resto was just plain great.  The servers were friendly and helpful, the manager made sure to check on every table, and, oh yeah, the food was absolutely delicious.  We started with a couple selections from the (very extensive) raw bar and one of the creative specialty cocktails.  Oysters - 10 out of 10.  Cocktails- eh, 6 or 7 maybe.  We moved on to selections from the (also quite extensive) wine and appetizer lists.  Wine - 10 out of 10.  Appetizers - again, probably a 6 or 7.  Moving on to the entrees, we left no plate unlicked.  The tuna was perfectly seasoned, the lobster roll just lobster-y enough, and the homemade ravioli stuffed with the most delicious ingredients then doused in an interesting - and addictive - green sauce.

And of course let's not forget my favorite part of any meal: dessert.  They have giant cupcakes. And seasonal pies.  And, as if that's not enough, lemon bars.  Nothing screams summer more than a scrumptiously sugary lemon bar.

Basically, ya'll should haul out to Montauk ASAP to try this place out.  We'd suggest more raw bar and wine, less appetizer and cocktail...and, of course, keep your fork - there's pie.
